Spring into a New Look

How To Wake Up Dull, Dry, Winter Hair.

Springtime is here, and so is the urge to revitalize your locks. Our stylists are sharing their top spring hair care tips to make your seasonal hair a perennial favorite.

Clean up your act – and your ends.

There’s a good chance that winter’s dry, cold air and the constant need for hoods, scarves and hats have left your strands a little worse for wear. Spring is the perfect time to clean up dry, split ends, whether you opt for a new haircut or just a clean up of your current style.

Lighten up on your products.

The moisturizing shampoo and conditioner you’ve been using during the harsh winter months may be overkill come spring and summer, when the warm air will naturally amp up your own oil production. Opt for clarifying products that are suited for your specific hair type. (Hint: Your stylist can recommend the perfect ones for your hair).

Brighten up your color.

Longer days mean more sunshine, and more sunshine means highlights. Spring is the perfect time to try out Balayage, a freehand hair painting technique that applies color on individual strands, usually one or two shades lighter than at the base. The result is a sunkissed look that grows out beautifully – and naturally.

Smooth it all out.

Of course, warm weather in Loudoun County means humidity…and humidity means frizz. Create glossy, sealed locks with a frizz-fighting product like Kevin Murphy SMOOTH.AGAIN, which will lock in your hair’s natural shine without weighing it down or greasing it up. We also love humidity fighters like Aveda Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother, which can help you beat the heat (while still looking hot).
